Good to know
- Stoneware is a dense, high-fired ceramic — the everyday workhorse of this category, generally heavier than porcelain with a more relaxed glazed finish. It can chip if knocked against other pieces, and it dislikes thermal shock, so avoid taking it straight from cold to very hot.
- Service for 8 suits larger families and anyone who hosts regularly — just check you have the cupboard depth for the stacks.
- A 32-piece set with service for 8 works out to 4 pieces per setting — typically a dinner plate, a side plate and a bowl, with a mug in a 4-piece setting. Check the listing for the exact breakdown, because sets count pieces differently.
- Per the listing's own specs — dishwasher: yes. We only publish these two claims where the listing states them; where a row is missing from the table above, the listing didn't say, and the Amazon product page is the place to confirm it.
- Whatever the material: let hot pieces cool before a cold rinse — sudden temperature swings (thermal shock) are what crack ceramics most often — and avoid stacking heavy pieces directly on rims.
